City pickup: not available for refrigerators

Fort Worth monthly bulk collection does not take refrigerators. They are accepted free at the City's four Drop-Off Stations.

Why

  • Bulk collection does not take household appliances containing coolant, including refrigerators and air conditioners.
  • At Drop-Off Stations, Freon does not need to be removed, but food must be removed. Residents unload their own items.

Skip to your real options: drop it off, donate it, or have it hauled away (below).

Option 1: Drop it off yourself

  • All four Drop-Off Stations accept refrigerators and air conditioners.
  • Brennan, 2400 Brennan Ave.
  • Southeast, 5150 Martin Luther King Fwy.
  • Old Hemphill Road, 6260 Old Hemphill Rd.
  • Hillshire, 301 Hillshire Dr.
  • Hours: Tuesday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to noon; closed Sunday and Monday.
  • Single-axle trailers up to 8 feet long only. No box trucks or dual-axle trailers.

Option 2: Donate or give it away

  • Habitat for Humanity ReStores generally want household appliances that are less than 10 years old, in good working order and complete. Rules vary by store; find yours with the ReStore locator.

Donation rules are set by each charity and can change. Call before you load up.
