Option 1: City pickup (Weekly bulky trash collection, plus the free Mini Dump)

Who can use it

  • Homes with City of Miami green and blue carts (City residential service).
  • Apartment buildings that use a dumpster cannot use curbside bulky collection; ask the property manager to arrange a private hauler, or use the Mini Dump.

How to book

  1. No booking needed. Look up your weekly bulky trash day with the City's address search.
  2. Questions: Solid Waste Customer Service at 305-960-2801, 311, or solidwastecustomerservice@miamigov.com.

Refrigerator rules

  • White goods (refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers) are accepted as bulky trash and at the Mini Dump.

Setting it out

  • Place bulky trash in front of your home the evening before your collection day and no later than 6 a.m. on the service day.
  • Keep it five feet away from all objects.
  • Putting bulky trash out at the wrong time or place, or including prohibited materials, can bring a $500 fine or arrest.

Fees and limits

  • The City lists no separate charge for weekly bulky collection. The Mini Dump is free for City of Miami residents.
  • Not accepted as bulky trash: household garbage, construction and demolition debris (cabinets, doors, tiles, carpeting, tubs, toilets), hazardous waste, paint, and auto parts or tires.

Option 2: Drop it off yourself

  • Mini Dump Facility, 1290 NW 20th Street, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to noon; closed Sunday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Christmas. Free for City of Miami residents with one proof of residency. One trip per day, no more than a pickup-truck load. No commercial vehicles, dump or panel trucks, or contractor materials. Phone 311 or (305) 468-5900.

Option 3: Donate or give it away

  • Habitat for Humanity's national guidance: appliances should be less than 10 years old, in good working order, with all parts. Check with your local ReStore first.
  • When you buy a new refrigerator, ask the retailer whether haul-away of the old unit is offered.

Donation rules are set by each charity and can change. Call before you load up.

What we could not confirm

  • The City's pages do not say whether doors must be removed or the refrigerant recovered before setting a fridge out. Call 305-960-2801 or 311 to ask.
  • The bulky trash tab of the schedule page says all items must be tied in bundles no longer than 3 feet and no heavier than 50 pounds. That reads as a yard-trash rule; the City does not say how it applies to furniture or appliances.
  • The City does not state a size or item limit for weekly bulky collection.
