Getting rid of bulky items in Omaha, NE
Omaha does not collect furniture, mattresses or appliances at the curb; bulky items of any type are not allowed in the black-lid waste cart. City residents can drop furniture and mattresses at River City Transfer, 6404 S. 60th St., under the City's cost-share program (up to 4 subsidized loads a year for a one-time $15 fee). Appliances are not part of that program; the City's free Spring and Fall Cleanup Saturdays take them at designated sites.
Omaha's 2026 Fall Cleanup Saturdays (October 3, 10, 17 and 24) are over. The City says Spring Cleanup runs in April and May; 2027 dates had not been posted when we checked.
